Hello there,
Well its been a long while since I've written anything in my blog. For some reason I was thinking about it today. Wondering what I had written in the past and what were my thoughts for the future.
Since my last post I had the most beautiful wedding in Maui, Hawaii on Sept 30th, and shortly after our honeymoon my wife and I found out we were pregnant. And NO it didn't happen on the honeymoon.
I have decided to go part time working as a paramedic to pursue some other dreams of mine and hopefully lay some serious ground work for a successful family and life for myself, Summer, and Marley Stone (that's my baby boy on the way).
Life recently has been good, really good in fact. Summer and I are not financially "killing it" but things are getting in order. (thanks to her). We, as mentioned above, have a baby on the way. My brother is engaged. My parents and other brother are healthy. Work is going well. All in all I'm stoked and thankful.
With things going so well in my life journey, I naturally want the other people in my life to be on similar paths. However, in that department I'm not so fortunate. Someone very close to me, and some of you may know who I'm talking about, has gone through some serious trauma. With all due respect to this person, I will not mention any names. If you know you know. Who its is and what happened is not what I'm interested in talking about. Its what we do about it that's on my mind.
So how many times in your life has someone been on the wrong path. You don't say anything do you? Why not? Well, I'm sure its human nature not to. We live our lives everyday to avoid as much conflict as possible. Most of us do anyways. What would your friend say to you if you confronted him? Would he or she be mad? A lot of times yes.
When we decide to make relationships with people, certain friends get closer than others. When a company is all working together, don't you encourage each other to produce the best work? Why is it that when some of our closest friends are not on the best path, we are so afraid to say anything to them?
My wife is very forward. She LOVES her friends and family SO much that she doesn't hesitate for a second to let them know if she thinks they might not be on the be pointed in the right direction. Unfortunately some of her friends have gotten mad at her on occasion for speaking out. She is surrounded by a wonderful group of women and I pray and hope that they see her reaching out as an act of LOVE and nothing else. I'm sure they do.
Is it fun to get drunk? The old me would say HELL YA IT IS! and if one of my best friends told me, it wasn't good for me, what would I have said? I would have to them to screw off. But deep down, I know the truth, even though I would not have wanted to hear it, I knew they loved me. I feel like for the most part we make friends with people that have minds like us. Unless you think you are dumb, and I hope you don't, it's probably safe to say that you would consider most of your friends pretty smart people. I'm telling you that even if a friend of yours doesn't like what you have to say, they get it. They might be mad, but they get it.
So back to the first part of my story, recently I had a friend that went through a serious amount of trauma. Before it happened things were getting bad. Some friends reached out and we all discussed what would happen if we confronted him. Some people thought he would get mad, others thought it was a good idea. But no one thought or knew what he was actually capable of. Or did we and just didn't want to believe it?
Well the unthinkable happened. Luckily it wasn't the ultimate unthinkable but it got as close as it gets.
Today I'm happy to tell you that my friend is still here and alive. Not because we did anything about it. I'd like to think it was the Grace of God, because we didn't do anything about it. Should we have? Well in hindsight I'm here to tell you yes, we should have. We should have called it straight, and told our friend straight up what was going on in his life was unacceptable and he needed to help and some change.
If you truly love someone, and you truly care about someone, then you should at no time care at all what you say to them, if it is done with love and good intentions and for their best interest.
So I ask again. Do you have anyone in your life going down the wrong path? How much do you love them? Do you love them enough to not care if you hurt their feelings? You might save their life. I didn't say anything, thankfully my friend is still here, he shouldn't be. What are you gunna do? Maybe you are the person that needs to talking with. Do yourself a favor and save your own life.
